Vincent Van Gogh still remains one of the most imaginative and inspiring artists in history. His interwoven views on color and scenery, his personal affinity with his chosen painting subjects and sceneries, and the richly textured nature of his work can never be replicated. And now you’re now able to view his amazing works like never before in a new Traveling Van Gogh Immersive Experience.

Rather than use the stereotypical gallery model of displaying paintings in frames, the Van Gogh Immersive Experience uses 70 projectors to project the artist’s works over 1,500 square feet of space. The projections include animated versions of the artist’s work that move to further display the rich texture and color present in the works. The co-producer of the show, Corey Ross, stated in an interview with Travel + Leisure that the “Immersive Van Gogh’ is a new way of encountering art.”

The exhibit includes many fan-favorite paintings, such as ‘Starry Night’, ‘Sunflowers’, and ‘Irises’. The combination of music, art, and movement brings Van Gogh’s works to life in a way that has never been seen before.

The exhibit began its run in Paris, France before traveling to Toronto, Canada in July of 2020. After a version of the exhibit debuted in Florida in November of 2020, it has made its way to Chicago in February of 2021. The exhibit is set to head to Charlotte, North Caroline in June 2021 in Camp North End’s historic Ford Building and it’s set to remain there through September, after which it will head to Pittsburgh.

Organizers have worked hard to implement safety protocols so that viewers can enjoy the exhibit safely. Face masks are required and temperature checks are given to each guest upon arrival. They have also been using a touchless system for taking tickets and have included social distance markers throughout each exhibit.
