Seoul, South Korea, is now home to the world’s first museum dedicated to robots and artificial intelligence. Turkish studio Melike Altınışık Architects unveiled the museum where visitors can “explore the endless possibilities of robotics and AI.”

Robots and AI are becoming a major part of the world, whether it’s in our cars or our homes. The new museum is intended for visitors to connect with this new technology frontier. “The museum isn’t just a place to look at cool tech,” said the founder of Melike Altınışık Architects Melike Altınışık. “It’s all about building deeper connections between people and the technology shaping our future, offering experiences that are as exciting as they are meaningful.”

Even the museum’s design radiates a futuristic look and looks like a spaceship of some sort.

“When RAIM appears on Seoul’s skyline, some folks might do a double take: Wait… is that a spaceship?'” said Altınışık. “And just like that, the adventure begins! Its bold, dynamic design beckons you inside, inviting you to explore the endless possibilities of robotics and AI.”

History is Now

Technology is constantly evolving. The Seoul Robot & AI Museum (RAIM) is capturing history in real time. From the minute you walk in the museum’s doors, you can see those advancements firsthand with the museum’s “welcome robots.” According to the studio, the interiors were designed to evoke “a sense of exploration and discovery” while showcasing modern technology. In addition to the robots, the museum includes numerous examples of smart technology.

The studio describes the building itself as a “living exhibition.” “At RAIM, the architecture isn’t just sitting there looking pretty – it’s part of the action!” said Altınışık. “This museum doesn’t merely house technology; it is technology.”

According to Altınışık, this is just the first of a series of robot and AI museums in the city. “RAIM isn’t just a static showcase of today’s coolest robotics and AI—it’s built to grow, evolve, and keep pace with the future,” she said. Altınışık wants to lead the charge in tech innovation and education in the city while fostering community engagement.

“Imagine RAIMs popping up all over the city, chatting with each other like nodes in a futuristic network,” she said. “And it all starts here –with our design serving as the mothership, the original monitoring center that kicks off a new era of connected, interactive museums.”
